Moving Prompts Book Giveaway

I am moving soon. My husband and I are downsizing houses in an effort to retire early and do missionary work. I will not have room for all of my books in our new house (a major fixer-upper we will be working on in coming months--perhaps I should blog about the transformation of that, at the moment, scary house. Quite the Halloween story). So every other week I will be giving away some gently used books (read only once).

For this week, I am featuring two paperback books in my giveaway. All you have to do to enter my giveaway is to leave a comment to this post. Next Tuesday, October 15, I will make a random drawing of all names entered to select the winner. Make sure you leave some contact info so I can obtain your mailing address, and I will send them out to you.

The first book is Dearly Departed

Ida Mae Babbit has done her community service and is a reformed woman - no more law-breaking for her. But when Arlette's granddaughter Eden discovers a mystery in a fancy nursing home, Ida Mae - with the perfect excuse of a broken wrist and a broken ankle - checks herself into the place. After all, it is for the greater good. Soon she's buzzing around in her motorized wheelchair, questioning the residents and swiping files from the office. She's bound and determined to get to the bottom of this case. But can she solve the mystery before she becomes the next victim?

The second book is Hang 'Em High

When Ida Mae Babbitt receives an invitation to visit her son Keith's dude ranch in Montana, she's excited to mend their broken relationship, but not so excited about spending time with cows. Arlette and Tansy go along with her, ready to take a vacation that does not involve dead bodies or mysteries of any sort - one must have a break from time to time. But it seems a no-good scoundrel has moseyed into Dodge City and is bent on causing all sorts of trouble for the ranch. Unable to keep her curiosity in check - especially when it seems her own son is the most likely culprit - Ida Mae decides to investigate. Can she lasso the varmint and get him to the sheriff in time?

Both books are written by a dear friend of mine, Tristi Pinkston.

They are both fun reads that I enjoyed very much.

  2. I love books! I love reading your posts also. I've been helping a friend write her life story and have found writing is really, really hard to sound interesting. People can tell you very cool things but in writing it down their are no facial expression, pauses, or emphasis so the same story is dull. Are you going on a service mission? Bringing puppets?

  3. Hey, Linda, you are my winner this week!
As for my mission, that is at least four years away. We'll decide what kind of mission as it gets closer, but as for now my husband and I are leaning toward a humanitarian mission. And I'm sure I'll bring some puppets along and try to find a use for them some way.

    1. I love winning things! My email is alleight@comcast.net Jeffrey and I are planning a mission too, though we have a sophomore in High School so plans are a few years away also. I loved your puppets, you can say so many things through a puppet that is more difficult face to face.
Your new book looks intriguing! I'll have to give it a try too!
